Your Prince George's County Memorial Library System offers you a wide variety of print materials; electronic books; audiobooks; downloadable audio materials; public access computers; over 50 online databases; educational DVDs and Videos; live homework help for grades 4-12; summer reading programs for children, teens and adults; story times for young children; author events and more.

Get a Library Card - You may obtain your free Library card at any branch library with proper identification (Photo ID and Proof of Address). Children through the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in order to get a Library card. Anyone who lives, works, attends school, or owns property in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Alexandria, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Falls Church, Loudoun County or Prince William County may get a Prince George's County library card free of charge. Note: Please have your card with you if you want to check out materials.

Student Library Card - If you are a student through the age of 17, unaccompanied by a parent/guardian or whose parent/guardian would prefer a more limited card, you may sign up for a student library card. Simply complete an application with your name, address, birthday and school information. With the Student Library Card you can borrow up to 3 items at a time and no overdue fines will be charged. The student card provides access to all online library services, such as online tutoring, research databases, and downloadable e-books, audio books, music, magazines and movies. With it, you can also use library computers.

Updating your Library Card - The staff members at the Check Out Desk of your local library can update the contact information on your library card record. You can also use "Message to Staff" option, when you access your account from the Library Catalog, to inform us of any changes to your card.

Library Card Expiration - Library cards expire every three years. To renew your library card, you must visit a branch with photo ID so that staff can verify your address and update the information in your record. This renews the card for another three years.

Lost or Stolen Library Cards - If any copy of your card is lost or stolen, please report it immediately to a branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System. You are responsible for all items borrowed up until the time you report your card lost or stolen. To report your card lost, call or visit any branch library.

Replacing your Library Card - You can replace your lost library card for free at any branch library with proper identification (Photo ID and Proof of Address).

Temporary RegistrationIf you do not have a library card, you can get a temporary registation with limited privileges. Complete the registration process and pickup your Library Card, with full privileges at your local branch. Click here for temporary registration

Library Cards or Computer Access Only Cards are Required for Computer Access - Customers who are unable to provide full information on our application may register for a computer access card by giving only their name, zip code and date of birth. With this card, customers will be able to use our public computers, but will not have full borrowing privileges. For full borrowing privileges further information will be required, such as proof of residency and a photo ID.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the staff at your branch library.
