The branch, built on land once owned by the Piscataway Nation, was originally dedicated on January 21, 1980. The cost of the building was $1.5 million. Two historic names of the area (Surratt and Clinton) were joined to make the name of the branch.
Size: It will be a 25,682 square-foot building.

The theme of children’s area is Discovery Bay. Celebrating the Chesapeake Bay, the room will have sailboat-shaped reading nooks, a lighthouse that children can sit in and read, a wall mural of animals and fish of the Chesapeake, seagulls flying from the ceiling and nautical-themed furniture.
