90+3 Boys Read Tuesday, June 2, 2015 - 4:00pm

Join us at the Glenarden Branch for our new 90+3 Boys Read program! 

Led by a former NCAA Division 1 athlete, this program will give boys the chance to read about sports, and more importantly gain the skills to be successful in the classroom and in life. Program highlights include reading books about some of the best soccer players and teams in the world, playing outside to build teamwork, eating healthy snacks, and meeting other academically-driven young men.  This great new program is for boys ages 8-12.

Computer with graduation capAre you new to the world of computing? Come to "Introduction to Computers" hosted at the Glenarden Library. We'll learn basic computer terms, web browsers, web addresses, scrolling, drop-down menus, and online searching. This class is for novice computer users only. D-Day Anniversary Hoopla Film Event: Lore Saturday, June 6, 2015 - 2:00pm

As Allied forces sweep through Germany at the end of World War II. Lore, a 14-year-old teenager, is left to care for her four siblings after her SS Officer father and mother are captured. Lore travels across the country to her grandmother’s house with the help of a Jewish refugee. This refugee and their harrowing journey exposes them to the reality and consequences of their parents' actions. (NR, 108 minutes)

* The film is NR but depicts graphic images of war. Viewers under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

National Pride Month Hoopla Film Event: Call Me Kuchu Saturday, June 20, 2015 - 2:00pm

In Uganda, a proposed bill threatens to make homosexuality illegal and punishable by death. This documentary follows David Kato, Uganda’s first openly gay man, as he leads a group of LGBT activists working to defeat legislation. In the wake of Uganda’s staunchly anti-LGBT atmosphere a brutal murder shocks the movement and its repercussion is felt throughout the world. (NR, 87 minutes)

Historical Hero Hoopla Film Event: Ruby Bridges Saturday, July 11, 2015 - 2:00pm

Based on a true story, at 6 years old Ruby Bridges was one of the first African American students to integrate the New Orleans' school system in 1960.  Come join us for a film that tells the story of this Civil Rights pioneer (NR, 88 minutes).

Joss Whedon Superhero Cosplay and Film Saturday, July 18, 2015 - 1:00pm
