At the South Bowie library, iPads can be borrowed and returned using the Media Surfer kiosk.
In order to checkout an iPad, you agree to the following:
- 2 hour loan period, or until the library closes.
- iPads must be used within the library.
- For your privacy, iPads once returned, will remove all personal information and any downloaded items.
- At the end of 2 hours, an unreturned iPad becomes overdue. Your library account will be charged the replacement cost of $600.00 and the police will be notified.
Who can checkout iPads?
iPads can be checked out using an adult library card. They cannot be checked out on Computer Access Only cards, Student cards, Juvenile cards or delinquent cards.
How long can you borrow iPads?
iPads can be borrowed for up to two hours. All iPads must be returned to the Media Surfer kiosk by their due time and before the South Bowie library closes.
Can iPads leave the library?
No. iPads are for use while in the library building.
Will personal logins I use, mobile apps I install, items I download or things I create remain on the iPad?
No. For your privacy, all personal information and any downloaded or created items are cleared from the iPad once it is returned to the Media Surfer kiosk.
What mobile apps are preloaded on the iPad?
Animals, Angry Birds, App Store, Blitz, Calendar, Calculator, Camera,Clock, Contacts, Facebook, Facetime, Flipboard, Game Center, Google Earth, IMDB, iTunes Store, iTunes U, Job Search, Kindle, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Netflix, Newsstand, Nook, Notes, Overdrive, Owl iLibrary, Pandora, Photo Booth, Photos, Pinterest, Pocket Phonics, Reminders, Safari, Snapguide, Solitaire, Twitter, Videos, WebMD, YouTube, and Zillow.
Can I download additional apps?
If you choose to, you can create and use your own Apple ID to download additional apps to the iPad. Be aware that once the iPad is returned all installations will be wiped off of the iPad. Click here to learn more about Apple IDs.
A mobile app is asking for my login, what do I use?
Mobile apps have been added to the iPad for your convenience. If an app is asking for a login, please create and/or use your personal login for the social media network or online service being accessed. Examples of mobile apps that will ask you to login: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Netflix, Kindle and Nook. Please be aware that once the iPad is returned all personal information and logins will be wiped off of the iPad.
