CHINESE LEADERS VISIT PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY LIBRARY

HYATTSVILLE- Prince George’s County Library System’s Bowie branch will host 25 Chinese

dignitaries at 2 pm. on September 15, 2010 as part of the University of Maryland’s Maryland

China Initiative. The University and the Chinese government created the program 12 years ago

to provide specialized training in general management practices for public officials. At the core

of the Initiative are scholars and experts in the field of public policy, management, education,

public health, engineering and urban planning.

 “The 2010 Jiangsu Information Policy and E-Government Management Training Program

focuses on innovative initiatives in e-government and information technology with an end goal

of improving services to the public”, stated Dr. Kenneth W. Hunter, a Senior Fellow for the

Institute for Global Chinese Affairs. Participants spend 9 days visiting public sector

organizations in Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and the District of Colombia.

They represent Jiangshu Province’s Economic and Information Technology Commission,

Communication Administration, Public Safety Department, Radio and Television Bureau,

 

 

 

Taxation Bureau, Administration for Industry & Commerce, Supervision Department, Division

of Human Resources and the Social Security and Finance Bureau.

ABOUT THE PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY MEMORIAL LIBRARY SYSTEM

The mission of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System is to promote and make

available library resources that will fill the lifelong learning needs of individuals and groups in

 Prince George's County. The 18 branches of the Library System provided over 48,407 public

 service hours with more than 2.5 million visitations last fiscal year. The System’s core programs

include Meet the Author, Teen Advisory Board and Storytime.
