Historic African American Sites in Prince George’s County
Join a discussion of historic African American sites hidden in many of the communities in Prince George’s County. Among the sites is the van Horn-Mitchell House, a 19th century plantation and home to the Nation of Islam during the mid-20th century.
John Peter Thompson, historian and lecturer on American and European histories, his presentations have included discussion on the U.S. Supreme Court, Civil War battlefields and “First Ladies” of the White House. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Commission and PGCMLS Library Board Trustee.
