These databases are good sources of information to help you with your homework. Sometimes material that you find on the Internet is not correct. Anyone can put information on the Internet, but they don't always get it right! The facts in these databases have been carefully collected and checked for accuracy. Often this material comes directly from printed books.

Biography Resource Center (Gale)
Learn about famous people from around the world. (Remote access available.)

BookFlix
Preschoolers through 3rd graders can read along with or listen to and watch videos of many all-time favorite picture books. Many titles are available in Spanish. (Remote Access Available)

CultureGrams (Axiom Press)
Look up information about countries and states. Learn about the history, government, culture, geography, and important people of many places. See maps, flags, and recipes from around the world. The “Kids Edition” is for upper elementary grades. (Remote access available. “Photo Gallery” not available.)

Encyclopedia Britannica
General-reference encyclopedia. Click on “Jump to Britannica Kids,” in the top right corner for an elementary encyclopedia. (Remote access available.)

Facts for Learning
Facts for students in grades 2 through 5 (you can set the grade level). Resources include the Weekly Reader and other magazines, the World Almanac for Kids, a dictionary, and an atlas. You can look up facts by topic, such as Animals, Health and Math. Learn how to use the library by clicking on “Library & Research Skills.” (Remote access available.)

History Resource Center: US (Gale)
Look up magazine articles, online reference sources, and primary sources on topics related to United States and World history. Source citations are included to help you with your bibliography. Choose a period from the timeline and limit by Lexile reading level. (Remote access available.)

Kids Search
Kids in grades K-5 can search by keyword or topic to find appropriate articles, primary source documents, photos, flags, etc.

Lands and Peoples (Grolier)
An encyclopedia of countries, cultures and geography for middle and high school students. It includes web links, article links, photographs, maps, flags, facts and figures, and more. Click on Culture Cross to compare two countries at a time. Passport to Fun has games that test your knowledge of the world. (Remote access available.)

Middle Search Plus
Provides full text for magazines and pamphlets covering general topics appropriate for middle school students.

Novelist K-8
Reading suggestions for children in grades K-8.

Science Resource Center (Gale)
Science information for middle school and up. Includes science articles, experiments, biographies of scientists, and science tools. (Remote access available.)

Searchasaurus - (Children’s Magazine Database)
Use this search tool to find information in hundreds of magazines, a picture file, a general encylopedia, and a dictionary. You can limit by Lexile reading level, search or browse categories. (Remote access available.)

Student Research Center
Kids in grades 6-12 can search by keyword or topic to find appropriate articles, primary source documents, photos, flags, etc.

New Book of Knowledge (Grolier)

Live Homework Help
