Hyattsville—The following is a listing of author events, storytimes, book discussions, special and ongoing programs to be held in July and August at public libraries throughout the county. All library programs are free and open to the public. ●Indicates programs for children, teens, families and all ages.
The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) will close for winter holidays and staff furloughs from December 24, 2009-January 3, 2010. The system-wide closure and other cuts helps PGCMLS close the Fiscal Year 2010 $2.4 million budget gap. During this time:
- Extended loan periods are in effect
- No items are due
- No fines will accrue
Libraries will be closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Monday, January 18 and Presidents Day: Monday, February 15.

Video Borrowing Policy Update
The following changes to the Video Borrowing Policy are effective January 5, 2010.
- Entertainment videos have a 7-day lending period with no renewals.
- Video materials (VHS tapes and DVDs) may be returned to any branch regardless of where they were borrowed.
- Entertainment videos that have been available for more than 3 months may be reserved.
- Entertainment videos on hold will be held in the branch for 7 days.
- The fine of $1 each day for overdue videos continues.
